Here You Know The Six Worst Cell Phone Sins You Should Avoid

Many “good habits” are not very conducive to expensive mobile devices. To prevent your valuable smartphone from being damaged through your fault, we list the most common mobile phone sins here. Smartphones have long been an integral part of our everyday lives; there are hardly any occasions when digital companions are missing. But as with simple things: you often become inattentive when dealing with them.

Sin 1: Extreme Temperatures

Even if winter is saying goodbye, temperature fluctuations and extreme temperatures all year round are dangerous for sensitive smartphones. Apple, for example, specifies a temperature range between zero and 35 degrees Celsius as the intended operating temperature for iPhones. Batteries and, for example, the liquid crystals of the LC display no longer work reliably in sub-zero temperatures.

This can result in the screen no longer responding to input or the mobile phone switching off completely. In winter, it helps to carry your mobile phone close to your body and, if possible, not to take it out of your pocket in extreme cold. A cover also helps to avoid cold injuries. If it gets hotter than 35 degrees Celsius, the electrochemical processes inside the batteries run faster, which can lead to the batteries aging faster. To protect against heat, we recommend watching the smartphone from direct sunlight and carrying it in a pocket.

Sin 2: Strong Temperature Fluctuations

Strong temperature fluctuations can also lead to severe damage to the smartphone. So if you return from the ski slope to a cozy and warm hut with your smartphone in your hand, there is a risk that condensation will form inside your cell phone. This can promote corrosion on electronic components. However, smartphones that have dust and water protection are less vulnerable than devices without special certifications. Smartphones should be carried in a case close to the body in cold weather to prevent possible damage from condensation. Calls should be made with a headset whenever possible, and prolonged exposure of the device to cold (or heat and very high humidity) temperatures should be avoided if possible.

Sin 3: Cheap Third-Party Power Adapters And Charging Cables

Suppose the original charging cable or the power pack of your smartphone is damaged or lost. You should never use a cheap no-name replacement because these charging cables and power packs are often not certified and wrongly marked with the obligatory CE mark. Poorly processed power supplies can get very hot and may even start to burn. Cases have also become known in which a short circuit caused electric shocks and severe injuries in poorly processed electronic components. So if you have to replace your power supply or charging cable, you should buy spare parts directly from the manufacturer.

Sin 4: Going To The Bathroom With Your Phone In Your Pocket

If the expensive smartphone is loosely in your trouser pocket, it is common for it to fall out. This often happens when changing clothes or when going to the toilet. The display can break if the mobile phone falls out of your pocket when changing clothes. If necessary, one could live with a so-called “spider app”; in the worst case, however, the device no longer reacts to finger inputs. Then the screen has to be replaced in a cell phone repair shop. It is common for the small mobile computer to end up in the toilet. Now you have to act quickly because entering the water can cause severe damage to the cell phone. The smartphone must be promptly fished out of the toilet and switched off – if it is still running.

Under no circumstances should it be dried with a hair dryer or on a heater. Instead, a quick, superficial drying with a cloth is recommended. You should then leave the device in a dry place. After about two days, try turning the machine back on. If that doesn’t work, the only solution is to go to a cell phone repair shop. Incidentally, even “water-protected” smartphones are not immune to water damage after a long swim in the pool or bathtub – it depends on the respective protection class. Water protection also mainly refers to tap water – soapy water, chlorine, or salt water can attack the seals and eventually allow water to penetrate.

Sin 5: Take Your Smartphone With You To The Sandy Beach Without A Case

Dust and sand are just as dangerous for a smartphone as moisture. If you don’t want to or can’t do without your mobile phone on the sandy beach, you should at least pack it in a waterproof case. Necessary: Make sure you pay attention to the certification! A waterproof case is usually built so that headphones, charging connections, and buttons are protected separately. Waterproof cases can also be used to protect expensive mobile phones as an alternative to a fixed smartphone case. They are light, and you can get them for under 10 euros. This means that the mobile phone can also be transported in the bathing bag so that neither wet swimming trunks nor sand toys can cause scratches and water damage.

Sin 6: Lay The Smartphone Face Up On The Table

Laying your smartphone openly on the table in a restaurant is a widespread (im)custom and simply impolite; it clearly shows the other person that the mobile phone is more important to you than a quiet conversation with them. It can also happen very quickly that the coke or beer glass tips over, and the sticky liquid spills over the smartphone. And while minor water damage is usually fixable, sugary drinks will clog the ports and buttons. On the other hand, it is also an invitation for thieves to pocket the valuable device when the owner is inattentive for a brief moment.
