Among the first actions by the new social network management was the announcement of the possibility of inserting paid plans for Twitter, especially for all who have requested, obtained, and want to keep the blue verified check. It also wants to improve the platform’s performance, so it has decided to eliminate a function that is considered excessive and, at times, embarrassing.

It is not uncommon to come across Tweets that contain the words “Twitter for iPhone” or “Twitter for Android.” It is an indication inserted just below the text, images, GIFs, or videos published by the user and informs the other members on which device the content creator used.

“We’re finally going to stop adding which device a tweet was written on,” said Elon Musk, who sees the feature-wasting screen real estate as one of the causes of performance degradation. The CEO stated that he did not understand the motivations that led to its introduction.

If the developers and creators continue to defend it, Musk seems firmly intent on removing it from the platform. Those who own an Android smartphone can tweet without showing others details about the device used. The same thing will happen to users owning an iPhone.

Another reason that could lead to the elimination of this function that has been present on the platform for years is that, in the past, it has been a source of embarrassment for some users and advertisers.
